I have divided the downloading and installation into two phases. In the first part, we will create bootable USB flash drive and the next phase will explain the installation guide. So, let’s start with the methods of creating bootable Windows 8.1 USB flash drive.

Method 1: Create Bootable Windows 8.1 Enterprise Via Rufus

Rufus creates Windows 8.1 Enterprise bootable USB flash drive with a few clicks. It works automatically and you don’t need to follow a long process.

  1. Click Here to download Rufus.
  2. Now, double-click to “rufus.exe” and click “Install” to start the installation.
  3. When it’s over, launch the tool.
  4. Now, download Windows 8.1 Enterprise ISO from the section above. (Make sure that you have downloaded the accurate version of ISO file. Before downloading, check your system’s version whether it’s 64-bit or 32-bit?)
  5. Connect a 4GB USB flash drive to your PC.
  6. Open the tool (Rufus) and click to “Create a Bootable USB Drive.”
  7. Now, select “Browse” to locate Windows 8.1 Enterprise ISO and click “Next.”
  8. Select “Start” and “Windows 8.1 Enterprise ISO.”

Method # 2: Create Bootable USB via CMD

This method involves a list of commands. That’s why it’s a complicated method for a newbie. So, use it if you are an expert user of Command Prompt.

Follow the steps below to create a bootable USB flash drive.

  1. Download Windows 8.1 Pro ISO from the above section and save it to your PC.
  2. Connect a 4GB USB flash drive with your PC.
  3. Go to the Start menu and search “Command Prompt.”
  4. Right-click on Command Prompt and select “Run as Administrator” from the context menu.
  5. In Command Prompt, type the following commands and press “Enter” every time.
  6. “list disk”
  7. “select disc #” (Here, replace “#” with the number where you want to install Windows.)
  8. “clean”
  9. “Create partition primary”
  10. “select partition 1” (You can write here the drive name like D: or E: )
  11. “active”
  12. “format fs=NTFS”
  13. Type “assign letter=X” (Use any available letter.)
  14. “exit”
  15. Type “bootsect /nt60 X:” here.
  16. Now give the last command to copy the ISO file “xcopy G:*.* X: /E /F /H.” The term “XCOPY” shows a copy of the ISO file.
  17. That’s all. Now, your Windows 10 bootable USB drive is ready to use.
  18. Close Command Prompt Admin.
  19. Reboot your system.

Installation Guide

  1. Connect the bootable USB flash drive to your PC and reboot it.
  2. When the Windows logo appears, press F2 and Esc key at the same time to enter BIOS.
  3. Select “Boot” from here.
  4. Press the down arrow to move through the list of options and select “USB” here.
  5. A few options appear here. Select the accurate one and select “Exit Saving Changes” to exit BIOS.
  6. Now, click on your desired language.
  7. From the same page, select the keyboard input method and Time & Currency format.
  8. Here, select the “Install Now” option to start the installation.
  9. Insert the product key.
  10. Now, click the box “I Accept the Terms” to proceed.
  11. Here, you will see two types of installation: Upgrade and Custom. Select Upgrade if you don’t want to delete current settings, apps, and data. Select “Custom” if you want to install a fresh copy of Windows.
  12. Now, create multiple partitions in your Hard disk drive.
  13. Here, select the drive where you want to install Windows 8.1 Enterprise.
  14. That’s it. It will show you the installation process in percentage. Wait for a while until it sets up the Windows.
